A creative mix of original lithographs, drypoints, etchings, Solarplates, aquatints, relief prints, embossing, digital prints, and screenprints is currently on display and introduces new works by CCP printmaking artist/members.
The “editions” theme of the exhibition challenges participants to produce an artistic, compelling image and—at the same time—explore one of the advantages of printmaking as an art form: the possibility of producing an edition; multiple, nearly identical impressions of one image. Each entry in the show consists of three impressions from an edition of at least five—and those three impressions are reviewed for quality and consistency, as well as creativity. One impression from each edition is on display, and additional impressions from each edition are also available, at the gallery.
CCP is honored to have had Michael Torlen, Associate Professor of Art + Design, SUNY Purchase, select the prize winners. In his juror’s statement, Michael writes: “Editions is a strong exhibition, presenting printmaking in a variety of skillful, well‐executed editions, technically complex, many thoughtful and visually engaging.”
The exhibition is on view from February 11, 2011 through March 27, 2011.
